Employee Spotlight – Martha Muthee-Johnson

Welcome to the first employee spotlight for 2024! Each month we select an individual from our GDT team and ask them a few questions to get to know them better. This month, GDT Marketing Specialist Marissa Gaudet interviewed Martha Muthee, Master Data Analyst.

Marissa: Hi Martha! Thanks for joining us for our January Employee Spotlight. We are excited to have you here! To start off, how long have you been with GDT, and what does your role involve?

Martha Muthee-Johnson: I have been with GDT for 2 years and 6 months. My role as a Master Data Analyst involves leveraging SAP’s functionalities to manage, analyze, and optimize the quality and usage of master data within the system.

Marissa: You certainly are a vital part of GDT! What would you say is your favorite part about your job?

Martha Muthee-Johnson: I am part of a great team and I have an awesome manager.

Marissa: We have wonderful people here for sure. Before starting at GDT, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?

Martha Muthee-Johnson: The most interesting job for me was when I worked as a waitress. I was accustomed to being a hostess, so the experience of being a waitress was quite different.

Marissa: The food industry is a tough business! Follow-up to that, if you could do anything for a job or career, what would it be?

Martha Muthee-Johnson:  I would be a model or interior designer.

Marissa: You would be great at either of those, I think. What’s a fun fact about you that most people may not know?

Martha Muthee-Johnson: I learned American Sign Language (ASL) a few years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. I’m eager to retake the classes and potentially connect with a deaf community to maintain what I’ve learned and continue learning more.

Marissa: That’s amazing! My next question is, where would you say is your favorite place to be or travel to?

Martha Muthee-Johnson: I enjoy visiting the spa with either a friend or my husband. I also adore the combination of warmth and water, so anywhere offering both is where I’d love to be.

Marissa: That sounds so relaxing! I want to know, do you have a motto or personal mantra that you live by?

Martha Muthee-Johnson: I live by the phrases “Choose Joy” and “Bloom where you are planted.”

Marissa: Those are great to keep in mind. Is there any advice you would give the younger you?

Martha Muthee-Johnson: I would tell my younger self to get more scholarships for school.

Marissa: Hey, it’s never too late to keep learning! Ok, if you could meet anyone in the world, past or present, who would it be?

Martha Muthee-Johnson: I would like to see my two grandmothers who have passed on. After them, I would like to meet Michael Jackson.

Marissa: Wouldn’t that be amazing to meet such a musical icon? Is there anything you are currently loving and want to share? This can be a podcast, book, tv show, music, activity, anything!

Martha Muthee-Johnson: I am now a published children’s book author. I love kids and have worked with them for many years in a variety of settings. Writing a children’s book has been on my to do list for a few years now, so I am filled with joy to see one of my many goals come to fruition. The book is called Walking on Rainbow Lane: The Town of Colorful Houses and is available for purchase on Amazon!

Marissa:  That is so cool! Thanks, Martha, for taking the time to answer my questions! It was great speaking with you.
