Employee Spotlight – Cynthia Conder

Welcome to the GDT Employee Spotlight! Every month we select a GDT Employee that stands out amongst their peers and ask them a few fun questions so our readers can learn more about the individuals that make up our incredible team. This month, GDT Marketing Specialist, Marissa Gaudet, interviewed Cynthia Condor, General Counsel.

Marissa: Hi Cynthia, thanks for taking the time to chat with me!  I love having the opportunity to meet with some of our employees and get to know them better!  I’d just like to ask a few questions to share with everyone. As an opener, how long have you been with GDT and what does your role entail?

Cynthia: I’ve been with GDT for 3.5 years.  As General Counsel, I provide legal advice and support across the organization.

Marissa: You are such an asset to the company! I hope there are many more years to come. What would you say is your favorite part about your job?

Cynthia: Seeing revenue reports reflecting contracts negotiated by my team.

Marissa: Oh, that seems very satisfying. I’m sure you are constantly reviewing different documents and negotiations. My next question is, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had before starting at GDT?

Cynthia: I did a summer internship at the San Diego Zoo.

Marissa: That is so cool! I bet it was fun getting to work with different animals.  Tell me, if you could choose anything as another job or career, what would it be?

Cynthia: I would be a Photographer for Architectural Digest or National Geographic.

Marissa: Photography is so interesting. I’m amazed at what photographers can capture in an image. Ok, my next question is what is a fun fact about you that most people may not know?

Cynthia: I grew up in California!

Marissa: Very nice! I have a few friends that grew up there before moving to Texas. That makes me wonder, though, what about traveling? Do you have a favorite place or destination?

Cynthia: No single place, really, I love exploring new places and cultures.

Marissa: Same here!  Different cultures are a fascinating thing to learn about. Out of curiosity, do you have a motto or personal mantra that you live by?

Cynthia: I do…  “Life won’t wait.”

Marissa: That is 100% true and a great mantra. In addition, is there any piece of advice would you give your younger self?

Cynthia: Not every load is yours to carry.

Marissa: I think we all need that advice in life. If only we could go back in time. My next question is if you could meet anyone in the world, past or present, who would it be?

Cynthia: I would like to have met Sam Walton or meet Bill Gates.

Marissa: It would be amazing to get to pick the brain of Bill Gates, even for 10 minutes. Final question! Is there anything you are currently loving that you want to share with us like a book or activity?  It can be anything!

Cynthia: I’m currently renovating a 1940’s farmhouse.

Marissa: How neat! Will you be the next HGTV star? I would love to see pictures when you complete it.

We hope you enjoyed this month’s spotlight! Come back next month to learn more about another amazing member of our GDT team. See you in June!
