Employee Spotlight: Noel Camberos

One of the things I love most about GDT is the incredible people who work together to make our customers successful. In this edition of the GDT Employee Spotlight, we’re featuring Logistics Coordinator and Blink182 fan Noel Camberos. Take a few minutes to get to know Noel, how he makes a difference in his role, and what he appreciates most about life at GDT.

How long have you been with GDT, and what does your role entail?

Noel: I‘ve worked for GDT for seven years. As a logistics coordinator, my responsibilities include coding carrier/courier invoices to allocate costs. This is a collaborative effort, so Accounts Payable can reconcile transportation costs for each GDT project. I also help the Trade Compliance Team with the export-related aspects of logistics. As a shipper, I understand the complexities of the transportation world and shipping to other countries.

What do you enjoy most about working at GDT?

Noel: I enjoy working with my incredible team and being surrounded by some of GDT’s smartest and most experienced personnel. They motivate me to earn my place in the ranks.

Can you share a project or accomplishment you’re proud of?

Noel: An accomplishment I am particularly proud of is helping onboard the Trade Compliance Department to GDT. Before its existence, we faced many questions we didn’t have the answers to. After much research, I now have the knowledge and experience needed to confidently export and import while referencing Commerce and Foreign Trade Regulations.

The knowledge and experience the Trade Compliance Department possesses has greatly benefited our day-to-day shipping operations. Through collaborative efforts, the transition was efficient, and our processes have become methodical.

If you could do anything for a job, what would it be?

Noel: I would teach Disaster Response and Planning in Logistics at my alma mater, the University of North Texas.

What’s a fun fact about you that most people may not know?

Noel: I enlisted in the service straight out of high school and finished my obligation in 1999. When 9/11 happened, I was in college. As soon as I graduated, I re-enlisted. I didn’t want my children involved, so I went instead.

What is your favorite place to visit?

Noel: My favorite place is the Texas Panhandle because of the history that is yet to be discovered and the history that is already known.

Do you have a motto or personal mantra that you live by?

Noel: “I belong to the warrior in whom the old ways have joined the new.”

I view this motto as universal, even though it sounds military-related. It is a reminder that age should not limit a person’s ability; if you can still be innovative and offer a unique perspective, all the while referencing past experiences, you have a lot to contribute.

What advice would you give your younger self?

Noel: Submerse yourself in your interests and absorb the details; failure is the first step toward becoming good at something.

If you could meet anyone in the world, past or present, who would it be?

Noel: If I could meet anyone in the world, it would be me at age 10. I would tell myself that the Red Sox would get over the curse in my lifetime.

What music do you like to listen to?

Noel: I listen to Blink182 and The Stooges, but I also enjoy the graceful sound of a finely tuned French horn. I enjoy Hans Zimmer’s music and Glenn Miller’s big band music, especially during the holidays.

Thank you, Noel, for sharing your experience and insights—as well as your favorite music groups. Visit Life at GDT to learn more about what it’s like to work at GDT, meet other GDT employees, and explore our latest career openings.
