SDN Architecture for Cable Access Networks Technical Report

GDT‘s own Software Defined Network Engineer Brett Kugler was a valued contributor in recent research to evaluate the technology paradigm of software-defined networking (SDN) and network functions virtualization (NFV). Thank you, Brett, for representing us well, again!

The research was a collaboration directed by Cable Television Laboratories (CableLabs). It involved a consortium of cable providers and technology companies and resulted in the SDN Architecture for Cable Access Networks Technical Report (VNE-TR-SDN-ARCH-V01-150625). The report assists professionals in evaluating standards and practices in order to choose which path best meets the needs of their organizations. Among other claims, the report asserts that although both SDN and NFV technologies can be used individually by cable operators with various benefits, “a higher level of benefits will result when SDN and NFV are combined.”
