Meet Umesh, a dedicated professional who has been with GDT for over three years. Umesh uses challenges to motivate him when providing essential operations, reporting, and analytics support to GDT leadership.
How long have you been with GDT, and what does your role entail?
Umesh: I have been with GDT for more than 3 years. My role is to provide Operations, reporting and analytics support to GDT leadership primarily in the areas of FP&A, accounting and sales.
Can you describe your team, your team’s role here at GDT, and the dynamics of your team?
Umesh: As part of the FP&A team, my team collaborates with the US team and offers seamless operations, reporting, and analytics support. The team consists of Business Planning Managers and Sales Operations Specialists.
What has been your most memorable project or achievement here?
Umesh: The financial year-end close is always a significant event at GDT, and the FY23 closure is my most memorable project. I took over the P&L analytics work in September 2023 and, within three months, had to support leadership with FY23 closure P&L reporting and analytics. We successfully achieved our objective, and I was commended by the Finance leadership for my contributions. It was a wonderful experience and a valuable learning opportunity for me.
Is there anything specific you are looking forward to in 2025 for your team’s goals & initiatives?
Umesh: In FY25, the team’s goal is to leverage various online and classroom training offered by GDT to acquire essential business knowledge, data skills, and communication skills. A combined understanding of these three areas is crucial for success.
How do you stay motivated and continue to grow professionally?
Umesh: Working for a mid-sized organization comes with its own set of challenges. I view each challenge as an opportunity to learn and grow. Figuring things out and problem-solving in a professional setting gives me a sense of satisfaction and has been a constant source of motivation for me to grow professionally.

Who or what inspires you in your career?
Umesh: Opportunities to learn, take on challenges, and the professional growth that comes with those things have inspired me in my career.
What aspects of our organizational vision, mission, or values resonate with you?
Umesh: Collaboration resonates with me. At GDT, we have achieved a lot due to teamwork. The exchange of ideas is essential for finding solutions. The collaboration between US and Indian team members has enabled us to overcome numerous challenges.
What advice would you give to someone new to the company?
Umesh: Be curious and organized. Listen and act on feedback. Try to be proactive rather than reactive. Collaborate and always maintain a positive attitude.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Umesh: Africa has always fascinated me. I have grown up watching a lot of wildlife documentaries. I would like to visit Serengeti National Park in Tanzania with my family.
Tell us more about yourself outside of work. What are your hobbies and interests?
Umesh: I watch documentaries to learn about different countries, like their cultures and histories. World history fascinates me. I also have a keen interest in current affairs and sports.
