How long have you been with GDT, and what does your role entail?
Sudarshan: I began my career as a Level 1 NOC network and collaboration engineer supporting GDT in a contract role. Over the course of five and a half years, I progressed to a Level 2 engineering role and later to Level 3 as a senior network engineer.
When GDT expanded its operations from the U.S. to India, I was fortunate to join GDT directly as a senior network engineer. Since then, I have had the privilege of growing into roles with increasing responsibility, progressing from a technical lead to my current position as delivery manager, where I oversee multiple customer IT infrastructure projects. Looking back, I feel proud and thankful to have been part of the GDT journey for nearly nine years, and I truly appreciate the experiences, learning opportunities, and relationships that have shaped my career along the way.
Can you describe your team, your team’s role at GDT, and what makes your team dynamic and impactful?
Sudarshan: If I had to describe our team in one word, it would be resourceful. One of our greatest strengths is the ability to adapt, make the best use of the resources available to us, and work collaboratively to find effective solutions. I often encourage our team members to keep two guiding principles in mind whenever they approach a challenge, whether it is process-related or technical.
The first is the ITIL principle, “Start where you are,” and the second is the OSI Model, which provides a structured approach to troubleshooting and problem-solving. I have always believed that these two concepts help create a strong foundation for analyzing situations and identifying the most appropriate path forward.
By following these principles, our team has developed the habit of asking the right questions, understanding the root cause, and evaluating available options before escalating an issue to the next level. This approach not only improves problem resolution but also helps our team members grow in confidence, strengthen their technical and analytical skills, and contribute more effectively to our collective success.
What goals or initiatives are your team focused on in 2026, and how do they support GDT’s broader mission?
Sudarshan: We are focused on upskilling, and I strongly believe in this. As technology, customer expectations, and industry standards continue to evolve, building knowledge and capabilities helps employees to be effective, adaptable, and innovative in their roles.
Furthermore, staying current with industry trends and emerging technologies allows our team to support the company’s broader mission of delivering exceptional value to customers, driving innovation, and achieving sustainable growth.
What’s a recent win that made you proud?
Sudarshan: Receiving feedback from customers, whether for a major achievement or a small act of support, is always incredibly rewarding. It reminds us that our efforts make a meaningful difference and create value for those we serve. This recognition not only brings personal satisfaction but also instills a deep sense of pride across the entire team.
I am especially proud of our team for the appreciation we recently received from two of our customers undergoing significant organizational changes. Despite the challenges, the team ensured uninterrupted support and service continuity, earning recognition during weekly and monthly customer reviews. This reflects our commitment, adaptability, and customer-first mindset.
Who inspires you in your career, and why?
Sudarshan: For me, Sunil Chhetri is a true source of inspiration. As a team captain and one of the most accomplished Indian football players in the world, he has achieved numerous milestones and set several remarkable records throughout his career. Despite his success and recognition, what I admire most is his humility, dedication, and unwavering commitment to the sport.
He continues to strive tirelessly to elevate Indian football and bring the national team closer to realizing the dream of competing on the world stage, including qualification for the FIFA World Cup. This mindset motivates me to stay committed to my goals, keep improving, and contribute meaningfully to my team’s success.
What’s one professional goal you’re currently working toward, and how are you approaching it?
Sudarshan: As part of my long-term career development goals, I plan to pursue the next level in a regular or distance education degree. I firmly believe that continuous upskilling is critical to staying relevant, adapting to industry changes, and enhancing professional capabilities. By investing in advanced learning, I hope to expand my expertise and business acumen and position myself to take on greater responsibilities while creating more value for my team and organization.
What’s your favorite GDT core value, and how do you see it in action—either in your work or across the company?
Sudarshan: We embrace collaboration. I strongly believe that collaboration is fundamental to achieving success. When employees, teams, and partners work together in a collaborative, supportive way, they can combine expertise, share ideas openly, and overcome challenges more effectively. This collective approach not only accelerates outcomes but also strengthens relationships, encourages innovation, and contributes to long-term organizational success. By valuing teamwork and maintaining a shared commitment to common objectives, we can achieve results that would be difficult to accomplish individually.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
Sudarshan: Japan has always fascinated me. I am inspired by how the country transformed itself from limited resources into a global leader through discipline, innovation, continuous improvement, and a strong commitment to excellence. There is a great deal we can learn from its mindset and culture.
What are your hobbies and interests?
Sudarshan: Dancing to Desi music is my all-time favorite hobby. I love listening to Desi music, and dancing always fills me with energy and excitement!
