Employee Spotlight – Liz Kapoor

Welcome to the GDT Employee Spotlight! Each month we select a GDT Employee that stands out amongst their peers and ask them a few fun questions so our readers can learn more about the individuals that make up our incredible team. This month, GDT Marketing Specialist, Marissa Gaudet, interviewed Liz Kapoor, HR Leader of GDT India.

Marissa: Hi Liz! Thanks for taking the time to meet with me.  We are excited to have the chance to get to know some of our employees better!  To start off, how long have you been with GDT and what does your role entail?

Liz: I have been with GDT for 1.5 years now. My role includes all aspects of employee interaction from Hire to Retire for GDT in India.

Marissa: Wow, I can’t believe our India team has been together for over a year now! What would you say is your favorite part about your job?

Liz: Every day is a new day. No two days are alike, so it’s both exciting and challenging to come to work. Given the supportive and encouraging culture at GDT, coming to work everyday is a privilege that I don’t take for granted.

Marissa: I love to hear that and whole-heartedly agree with you.  It’s wonderful to work for a company that invests in it’s employees.  My next question is before starting at GDT, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?

Liz: I started my career in the non-profit sector, and one particular assignment involved curating an art exhibition to raise funds for children in less privileged circumstances. I met with a series of prominent Indian artists to get them to donate one of their paintings for the exhibition. The exposure to both the art and the artists, and the logistics of organizing the event was a unique experience for me.

Marissa: That sounds amazing! What a great experience.  Tell me, what is a fun fact about you that most people may not know?

Liz: I like to stand and stare at the sky.

Marissa: I think that would be very relaxing! What about traveling?  Do you have a favorite place or destination?

Liz: My favorite place in the world is New York! I love the iconic buildings and museums, the Statue of Liberty (especially what’s inscribed on it), watching the people rushing about on Wall Street…. the vibe in NY is special!

Marissa: New York is an amazing place to explore and experience.  My next question is what is a motto or personal mantra that you live by?

Liz: Be Kind. No exceptions.

Marissa: In addition, what advice would you give your younger self?

Liz: Time flies…. make the most of the time you have!

Marissa: Great advice! My next question is if you could meet anyone in the world, past or present, who would it be?

Liz: Oprah Winfrey.

Marissa: She would be an amazing woman to meet.  Finally, is there anything you are currently loving that you want to share with us like a book or activity?  It can be anything!

Liz: The Good Fight – a TV series on Amazon Prime.

Thank you Liz! I enjoyed having the opportunity to chat with you and get to know you better.

We hope you enjoyed this month’s spotlight! Come back each month to learn more about another amazing member of our GDT team. See you in April!
