GDT Employee Spotlight: Sherry Mills

Meet Sherry. With over 15 years at GDT, Sherry is a key part of Team Bedford and GDT. She is known for her dedication to customer support, building lasting relationships, and has a driving commitment to teamwork.

How long have you been with GDT, and what does your role entail?

Sherry: I started in 2010, so it has been over 15 years here at GDT. In my role, I consider myself the main customer support and customer service representative, and I maintain relationships with clients to keep them happy. We do a whole list of other things besides our S3 responsibilities too, such as accounting, collections, receivable, payments, and commissions just to list a few.

Can you describe your team, their role here at GDT, and their dynamics?

Sherry: Our team is ‘Team Bedford’ with Chris Bedford as our Account Manager. The team consist of Robbin Hood, who has been with GDT for 16 years, and Denita Lowe, who has been with us for 10 years. We are a very tenured team, and we are old school customer service. For example, we pick up the phone  call the customer when they need something. We ensure Chris is supported because if he is successful, then GDT is successful.

What goals or initiatives has your team focused on in 2025, and how do they support GDT’s broader mission?

Sherry: Our goals don’t change much from one year to the next; our goal is to be successful. In 2025, we shifted focus to have more true ups, bring on new customers, and shifted some focus of what the team does to lessen the workload and be more efficient.

One of our top goals is to attend the United Way Golf Tournament, hosted by ConocoPhillips and Phillips 66, in Bartlesville, OK. We are one of 157 vendors who attend this major golf tournament and fundraiser. Over 766 Golfers attend, so we represent GDT and share knowledge about what GDT can do.

A lot of what our team does is recurring business and managing end-of-life cycle work, along with any new business. We partner with team members such as Craig Frampton, who works with Team Bedford as our PM, to make sure all aspects of their business are covered. Overall, we have an army of support for our team and goals.

What’s a recent win—big or small—that made you proud?

Sherry: Of course, it would be the United Way tournament. This was my 16th year doing it, and we raised over $35,000 for United Way on our Hole 10, which is the Margarita tent and 50/50 raffle. Overall, the entire tournament raised $1.3 million, which is used to give back to the surrounding areas. Our relationships carry over there, and at this point, we aren’t all vendors; we are like a family.

Team Bedford also won the “Best Set Up” award for the second year in a row at the tournament! BAM!

Who or what inspires you in your career?

Sherry:  My biggest inspiration is my mother. She worked inside the home but taught me lifelong values such as “Be like Thumper: if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.”  Not so sure I caught on to this one, but I try!

She taught me family first, to be kind, to be truthful, and she worked hard to raise good people.

What’s one professional goal you’re currently working toward?

Sherry: One professional goal I’m working toward is retirement in the next few years, though that’s still up for debate between me and Mr. Bedford! I’m focused on being good to people, being a good person, being honest, and having relationships that last a lifetime. Having meaningful relationships with customers brings it two-fold, so not just happy customers but a happy family.

What’s your favorite GDT core value, and how do you see it in action?

Sherry: Diversity. For me, it’s all about the culture and the people here. Skills can be taught, but personality and drive are what make a team thrive. GDT does a great job maintaining that balance, and you can see it in action every day. Our SAs, PMs, Delivery, and all our different teams bring incredible knowledge to the table. You must communicate with the whole team to be successful.

If you won the lottery tomorrow, what would you do with the winnings?

Sherry:  Well, first and foremost, I would be retiring! (Sorry, Mr. Bedford!) I’d invest a portion, pay off bills, and share the winnings with my family.

Tell us more about yourself outside of work. What are your hobbies and interests?

Sherry: Outside of work, I love spending time with my grandson and am excited to welcome my first granddaughter soon. I enjoy traveling, love cruises, and enjoy camping–as long as it doesn’t involve sleeping in a tent!
