Employee Spotlight- Mi Moore

Welcome to this month’s GDT employee spotlight! Every month we choose an individual of our team and ask them a few questions to get to know them a little better. This month, GDT Marketing Specialist Marissa Gaudet interviewed Mi Moore, Sr Manager – Treasury & Compliance.

Marissa: Hi Mi! Welcome to our Employee Spotlight.  Thanks for joining us! To start off, how long have you been with GDT, and what does your role entail?

Mi Moore: It has been ten months since I joined GDT as Sr Manager of Treasury & Compliance. My core role is managing company liquidity from daily cash to debt administration.

Marissa: We started around the same time! Time really flies.  What would you say is your favorite part about your job?

Mi Moore: What I enjoy about my work is my interactions with different departments.  My role requires me to collaborate with other departments every day.  I learn something new every day. This is what makes my work so exciting.

Marissa: That’s awesome to hear! Before starting at GDT, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?

Mi Moore: This was a while ago while in high school. I volunteered as a “Candy Striper.”  I was assigned to the Pediatric department, and my job was to comfort babies and toddlers in the hospital.  I would nurse them, play with them, or hold them to settle them.  I love babies, so this was a good assignment.

Marissa: I love that! I’m pretty sure Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital has Candy Stripers as a volunteer program. Next question is if you could do anything for a job or career, what would it be?

Mi Moore: I love numbers, so my current job perfectly fits me.  I began my career in retail management right out of college, and I thought that was my dream job.  After running large department stores for 21 years, I had enough and decided to pursue another career.  That career ended up being in Treasury, where I am now.

Marissa: We are glad to have you at GDT!  What’s a fun fact about you that most people may not know?

Mi Moore: I have been married thirty-seven years and ten months to my husband, whom I’ve known since I was ten.

Marissa: That’s amazing! Congrats! My next question is where would you say is your favorite place to be or travel to?

Mi Moore: A beach vacation is my favorite destination. Anywhere with a beach would be great.  So far, Waikiki has been the best.

Marissa: I love Hawaii and want to go back soon.  Tell me, do you have a motto or personal mantra that you live by?

Mi Moore: Mantra I live by is, “Just be yourself. There is no one better.  Today is the best day of my life.”

Marissa: That is true! Is there any advice would you give the younger you?

Mi Moore: Well, I’d say to my younger self, “Failure starts in the mind, so think success, and you will be successful.”

Marissa: Ooh I need to remember that one.  Ok, next is if you could meet anyone in the world, past or present, who would it be?

Mi Moore: It would be my Dad! He passed away when I was very young.

Marissa: Wouldn’t that be cool to reconnect with your dad.  Is there anything you are currently loving and want to share? This can be a podcast, book, tv show, music, activity, anything!

Mi Moore: Oh yes! Stand-up paddle boarding! While it looks easy, it requires core strength to balance yourself on the board.

Marissa:  It’s a lot harder than it looks!  Thank you Mi for taking the time to answer my questions!
